Navara is originally a Kerala variety rather than a Tamil one, and we're upfront about that alongside the rest of our catalogue, which is grown by named Tamil growers. It matures faster than most traditional paddy and has a long-standing place in Siddha and Ayurvedic household cooking, where it's traditionally prepared as a medicated gruel or porridge rather than eaten as everyday table rice.

The grain is short and reddish-brown, with the bran left on.
