CO 51 is another TNAU-developed short-duration variety, with a finer grain than ADT 43 and a cooked texture nearer to a samba rice. It has become popular with households wanting something better than standard table rice without paying samba prices.
Again - modern variety, not heritage. Stocked because it does a specific job well: fine grain, good separation, moderate cost, available all year.
Cooking
Rinse. Cook 1:2, about 18–20 minutes, or 3 whistles.
