A short-duration variety developed by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and now among the most widely grown in the state. It matures fast, yields well, and gives a consistent medium-short white grain.

It isn't a heritage variety and we don't present it as one. What it offers is reliability and price - it cooks the way people expect, it's available through the year, and it costs less than samba or heritage grain. For kitchens and canteens working to a tight per-plate cost, that's the right trade.
